Jena has been writing and editing for more than 20 years. Her work includes everything from a syndicated column and book reviews to travel/adventure features and business profiles. Her passion is exploring the natural world, her relationship to it, and the impact human beings are having on the planet. She has written for a wide range of publications including Backpacker, House Beautiful, E-The Environmental Magazine, The Japan Times, Cooking Light, Triathlete, The ACCJ, and Mother Earth News.

Most recently she has been writing the syndicated column, "Halfway Over the Hill," and a series of essays entitled, Whales in My Backyard.

Halfway Over the Hill is my attempt to capture life at its quirky best from the point of view of a 50-something journalist with time to kill.  Within its pages you’ll find commentary on everything from tech savvy seniors to the health of the television industry.  You’ll meet hairdressers and housewives, students and dentists, all going about the business of getting through their days. Throughout I’ve made a conscious effort to debunk the stereotypes that plague people of all ages (no not all seniors are senile, and not all teenagers are drug addicts), and to celebrate life with humor.
