The Keys to Hope
Everything that City of Hope stands for and works towards is built into the new, six-story, 350,000 square foot Helford Clinical Research Hospital
Quality Clinical Care
All 144 rooms in Helford Hospital have been equipped to meet the special needs of patients with compromised immune systems. In addition, the design and layout of each floor ensures that clinical staff can constantly and accurately monitor patients and have easy access to the equipment and medications required to treat them.
Outstanding Medical Facilities
No expense has been spared to ensure that Helford Hospital is equipped with the latest and finest medical technology available for both treatment and research. This includes everything from the information exchange system, which allows medical staff to easily access and share data, to the set-up an storage of medication in the pharmaceutical labs.
Supportive Environments
Recognizing that the mental, emotional and spiritual well-being of our patients play a vital role in their healing process, Helford was built to be aesthetically pleasing as well a technologically advanced. High ceilings and large expanses of windows, including one in every patient room, offer stunning views and allow natural light to flood the building. Warm color schemes and mini-gardens on ever floor bring the natural world inside, helping ease the isolation that many patients feel during a hospital stay.
State-of-the-Art Medical Technology
Increased precision, added protection, and faster healing
Surgical “Super Suites”
Helford Hospital’s six surgical suites maximize floor space, make the latest and finest equipment readily and easily accessible to surgeons, and allow for real-time consultations with other medical experts working off-site. Included in the equipment line-up are robotic and laparoscopic devices, video cameras, and a comprehensive information system for rapid data access and communication between colleagues.
Robotic Technology
Precision and care are critical in any surgery, and the use of robotic-assisted surgical systems gives surgeons superior control and maneuverability. The system converts the surgeon’s relatively large hand motions into minute movements carried out by the robotic hands within the patient. Since robotic arms can rotate a full 360 degrees, there is greater flexibility and accuracy during procedures, which in turn reduces blood loss, shortens recovery time, and decreases side effects.
The Finest Air Filtration System
To help ensure that patients with compromised immune systems are cared for in the cleanest environments possible, an exceptionally efficient air filtration system has been installed in Helford Hospital. This system cleans and changes the air 15 times an hour, far surpassing federal requirements, and incorporates ductwork composed of anti-microbial steel that reduced the risk of airborne infections.
